Last month, we launched Inven MCP. Since then, we've heard the same friction from M&A and consulting teams: getting Claude to produce consistent output across the whole team — not just when one analyst gets the prompt right, and without rewriting prompts for every project.
Here's the thing: Every time you open Claude, it doesn't remember how your firm works. Your one-pager structure, market sizing process, the output format you've explained before. You re-explain it. The analyst on the next project explains it differently. Outputs vary. All that friction and wasted time adds up.
That's why we are launching Inven Skills.
What are Inven Skills?

Inven Skills are reusable workflows that teach Claude how to run recurring M&A and consulting tasks with Inven MCP — in your firm's style, structure, and format.
Each Skill bundles your instructions and templates for a specific task. With Skills installed, Claude picks the right one automatically and already knows what to do when you start each task.
No more writing prompts from scratch for every project. One-pagers, strip profiles, market maps, and target lists come out right the first time, every time — for every analyst on your team.
What tasks can Inven Skills run?
Inven's pre-built Skills cover common tasks M&A and consulting teams work on every week, and you can create more of your own too.
Our first pre-built Skills are already live, including:
- Company one-pagers
- Strip profiles
- Benchmarking a company to peers
- Workforce analysis
- Employee turnover analysis
Start with our pre-built Skills, adapt them to your firm's conventions, or work with our team to create new custom Skills for workflows specific to your firm.
What's the difference between MCP and Skills?
Inven Skills sit on top of our MCP, improving its output quality. MCP gives Claude access to Inven data, while Skills lock in the process and output format of work you do repeatedly with that data.
How to add Skills to Claude
Start in Inven: go to Account > Skills to browse the available skills. Toggle on those you want to enable, then install them in Claude with one of two methods.
We recommend the plugin, as templates apply more reliably in Claude via the plugin than via MCP.
1. Add the Inven plugin to Claude (recommended)
In Inven, download the enabled Skills as a plugin: Account > Skills > Download plugin. Your organization's Claude admin needs to add the plugin to Claude from Customize > Organization plugins, then the whole team will get access to those Skills.
Future updates to Skills are not synced automatically to Claude. To update Skills, e.g. if instructions or templates are changed, re-download and re-install the plugin to Claude.
*Plugins only work in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, not Claude Chat.
2. Via Inven MCP
Once Inven is connected to Claude via MCP (setup guide), every enabled Skill is automatically available in your Claude.
Updates to Skills are synced automatically, no re-installation needed.
How to use Inven Skills in Claude
Once installed, just ask Claude in plain language for what you need: "Make me a one-pager on Spotify in our firm's format"
Claude picks the right Skill automatically and follows the instructions and templates it contains.
If the right skill doesn't run automatically, type / and select it from the menu to nudge Claude in the right direction.
Getting the most out of Inven Skills
From working with M&A and consulting teams to develop Skills, the pattern is clear: a small set of high-quality Skills tailored to your firm outperforms a large library of generic ones. Too many Skills gives Claude more options to evaluate, and makes outputs less predictable.
Start with the workflows your team runs every week. Align them closely to your firm's style, templates, and analytical conventions. Then focus on adoption — the value compounds when every analyst runs the same Skill the same way, on every project.
Get started with Skills
Inven's first pre-built Skills are already live. Log in to view them at Account > Skills. Connect Inven to Claude via MCP to start using them in Claude.
